4th and final part of this legendary morris audio compilation series bringing some new (origins sound, manooz) and old faces (volta cab, julien sandre), but keeping the house vibe in different shades. up and coming origins sound (glasgow underground, lost) present a bassy pumping uk house tune whereas volta cab (kolour, hypercolour) goes back the the rave days and invites us to some hardcore heaven. the flipside starts with morris audio buddy julien sandre, who is still some kind of secret underground weapon, even if he already released on argys these days label or on tsuba. finishing off the ep is manooz (alive, extended play) with a great deep and raw house tune. this all is for you, seven daze a week!

after the very successful foray into split eps, luv shack records continues to explore this concept with luv013. the ep sees upcoming duo space echo make a return after their smash hit -soul power-, while the b-side is conducted by wahlberliner rotciv. -come back home-, the opening track by space echo, is a slowly building but effortlessly captivating piece of hypnotic house music with a raw funk attitude. the gently evolving synth line and the strong vocal hook are the spine of this anthemic track. the seemingly laid back -hangover- just oozes b-movie sleaze and might be space echos little hommage to 60 s lounge music, with an array of distorted guitars and soft pads coming to good use. that is until the synth theme kicks in mid-track and turns the piece into a late night weapon.

vinyl only. sol asylum s follow up to the wildly successful >long time coming< ep is finally here. this time around from dilated pupils, a collective group of likeminded friends from the netherlands whom together have a distinct flavor in production consisting of analogue machines, tape noises and raw one-take jam sessions. in this release they have created a distinct mesmerizing atmosphere with an infinite labyrinth of intricate raw analogue grooves and evolving dream like synths. a haunting yet luminous collection of tracks tightly binds together the three-track entry with a remix delivered from birdmakingmachine.

the legendary tony rohr graces phobiq with his presence and offers two tracks alongside his new partner-in-crime layton giordani. the ep starts out with the sparse arrangement of -careless suggestions-, driven by a locomotive bassline and grinding rhythm section. moody stabs reinforce the bleak vibe, and the vocals coming at us from otherworldly black holes only add to the mood. label boss sasha carassi steps up for the remix in his trademarked stomping style, making use of hypnotic elements and the busy claps from the original. industrial-sounding hi-hat action drives his interpretation all the way home, after an apocalyptic breakdown, of course. on -reggae shiz- things are more stripped-down with bare drums holding everything together, as the rest of the arsenal slowly builds around menacing chords and a rocksteady groove. behind the spotlight, liquid bass comes together with quirky percussion to complete this almost-10-minute-long opus. dema maintains a sublime, shadowy mood in his version but opts for busier hats and heavier usage of chords.

alec troniq continues his impacting uncrufter series on ipoly with a new improved formula – model number 2000. fauxpas on a-side elates for a thorough spring-cleaning and teases out a positive temper for the coming season. for kallewürsch! on b1 he picked up some cuckoo grooves by ka.rambolage and goes berserk with em. subsequently mr. troniq takes possession of the tube on b2 and haunts the place with pounding announcements.

following on from killawatts bring down the walls ep at the tail end of last year osiris music continues to expand their sonic boundaries as they move in 2014, with their first release of the year coming in the form of sleepers simulation theory ep. experimenting for the very first time with fm synthesis, the ep features seven tracks of thunderous production the majority of sounds for which sleeper drew from a mere four oscillators in a bid to recalibrate his production skills. the resulting record is far more than the sum of its component parts and, save for the skulking, static soaked tension of meth, moves with relentless force and purpose throughout.the simulation theory ep sees sleeper taking his already deft grasp of both dubstep and techno production and fusing them to a body of pummelling forward momentum perfectly suited to set osiris music off on what promises to be a bold and progressive year.
